Alberta Seniors & Housing

June 19, 2020

Just received this letter from Hon. Josephine Pon

Dear Debra Molzan,

During these unprecedented times due to COVID-19, it is increasingly important for communities and individuals to look out for one another. As we continue to respond to the pandemic, I wanted to personally commend you and your organization for your hard work and dedication to the seniors in your care.

As you know, older individuals are among the most at-risk from COVID-19. The work you do to ensure that care, food services, outreach and other supports important to the well being of seniors remains available becomes even more important during this pandemic.

Every day I hear stories of non-profit organizations stepping up to address the gaps brought on by the pandemic and the increasing demand for services. All over Alberta, we are seeing ordinary people doing extraordinary things in the face of COVID-19, and the work you are doing to keep highly vulnerable people safe and secure is an example to us all.

Now more than ever, it is important to honour the work of outstanding organizations that are investing their time, energy and resources for the benefit of seniors. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to nominate individuals, businesses or non-profit organizations who have served seniors through their extraordinary work in volunteerism, philanthropy, innovation or outstanding service during the COVID-19 pandemic for a Minister’s Seniors Service Award. Nomination forms and additional information are available at alberta.ca/mssa. The nomination deadline is Aug. 11, 2020.

On behalf of Premier Kenney and my government colleagues, thank you. You and your coworkers have risen to the challenge, and you deserve all Albertans’ gratitude.

Sincerely,

Josephine Pon,
Minister of Seniors and Housing
